30 Belly Up Concert Tickets & Kathryn the Grape Visit
Helping others is at the heart of everything Kathryn does. In an effort to expand the mindful messages of Kathryn the Grape and her ability to help more people in her community and worldwide, she is offering some exclusive incentives in a special fundraising campaign, one of which includes this show.
If you looking for something fun to do for a PTA or PTO Parent’s Night Out event, this is perfect for you! In an effort to pack the Belly Up — to raise awareness and money for this great cause — we’re offering this special incentive: receive 30 Belly Up concert tickets (valued at $300) and an inspiring and empowering Kathryn the Grape Visit to your school (valued at $300) for just $450 — a $150 savings.
What does this show have to do with Kathryn the Grape? Kathryn has a special place in her heart for helping Rady Children’s because it helped save the life of five-year-old Samara, one of the Kathryn the Grape characters and the daughter of Kathryn’s dear friend Jennie Lapointe. (Jennie is credited in every Kathryn the Grape book because she helped Kathryn create and develop many of the concepts shared in the Kathryn the Grape Affirmation Series.) When Samara was 20 months old, the doctors at Rady Children’s removed one of her kidneys due to a tumor and she immediately started chemotherapy. In a span of 19 weeks, little Samara endured 13 chemotherapy treatments. As you can imagine, that was an extremely stressful time for Samara and her parents. Samara just celebrated her fifth birthday and is in remission thanks to Rady Children’s.
Through unrelated yet divinely serendipitous events, Kathryn was invited to write the theme song for Rady Children’s Hospital’s Celebration of Champions annual event, which raises money to support programs for children fighting cancer. After meeting with the event’s board and learning their hope for the song, Kathryn poured her heart into writing “We Are Champions” to help every family impacted by childhood cancer — with Samara being her personal inspiration. To create the full band sound for the song, Kathryn invited her bandmates to help co-write the music with her — the same band ready to entertain on stage for this special Belly Up concert. Yes, we’re all in this together.
