Bringing the first Kathryn the Grape music CD to life was really significant for me on a personal level. If you have been following along with me, you know that writing song lyrics and channeling melodies has been something that I’ve done since I was a little girl. Some of the most joyful, soul-shining moments of my childhood were spent in the sanctuary of my room singing my songs for the audience of dolls lined up on my twin bed. I share about this childhood passion in my TEDx talk and how my passionate spark was dimmed for a long time until I discovered how to ignite it again, and then started to shine my natural light into the world.
As that spark turned into a vibrant light with the realization of the Kathryn the Grape music, I decided to make the big whopper of a childhood dream come true by writing and recording my first solo album as Kathryn Cloward the woman I am now, versus through my illustrated likeness. And this time around, I’m not going to chicken out on singing lead as I did with Kathryn the Grape CD. I will be putting on my big girl boots and rockin’ it out just like I did for my dolls 30+ years ago, and on and off throughout my life (depending on how much courage I was armed with at the time). My writing partner, Rich, and I are seven songs into my 11 song album, and I am working on getting pitch perfect (or as close to pitch perfect as possible) with my talented vocal coaches, Eve and Mattie. Needless to say, I am pretty darn excited!
In all of the life lessons that I hope to be revealing to my son through living and leading by example, I hope that he thoroughly absorbs the understanding that he can do whatever he wants to do and become whatever he want to become as long as he is willing to do the hard work, persevere, trust what is being revealed to him, and…. BELIEVE.
Believe it to be true!
